The Lemur got canned!

Yes, its true...! the Lemur is now offically fired! I think the last straw, as though there were only one, was the labor board coming in! Yep, he had been pulling some shysty moves with the time clock. Amazing how great it feels to go to work and not have to deal with someone, who's supposed to be your superior, who's drunk and trying to make decisions!!!!! All is well with my world. I've been busy as usual with work and my schedule at same. The great thing is that I have a life outstide of my job now. I've been given a few more responsibilities but with the difference in the schedule now, I can get them done. Yay me! Ive got some more pictures for you, imagine that...I love my camera! Oh and Im going to the local Italian market (great food) to get something for dinner. We shall see what I come up with, can't wait. Talk to you soon, Dulce

My last day off before the 1st day of work...

I've been catching up on the everyday things before I go back to work, I'm anxious to see the changes that have occured while I was gone. And there will have been changes, believe me. My job is very dog eat dog to say the least.

I've mentioned the "Lemur" before, well he tells me that he will be taking a leave per his doctor?! Surprise, surprise....He says that it's because he was diagnosed with severe high blood pressure? Hmmm. Oh but of course. What's that song by Amy Winehouse?

I'm ok with him not being there, it's the other mini me's that concern me. And truthfully it's really not a true concern, it's just something to watch and laugh about and juggle.

I do look forward to seeing some of my servers though. You just come to know and love SOME of them. They are, for the most part, younger than me and seem like my adopted children sometimes. I have two ladies that are near or my age that I love dearly that I truly look forward to seeing again and can't wait to talk to. Have to catch up on the day to days.

I miss the Chefs too, even the cranky ones!

I'm planing on making some chicken tonight. I won't be able to cook the rest of the week because of work so I'm making the meals while I can. We had seafood the entire time we were at the Cape, and I'm having withdrawals. OH well, deal with it, right?

The chicken is a no brainer, just some leg thigh combos and some bone in breasts.

2 of each (chicken) wash and pat dry

garlic salt and pepper to taste

drizzle of olive oil in the frying pan (medium heat)

brown lightly (both sides)

seperate pan, 1 onion/ course chop, mushrooms/ sliced.

saute, medium heat in olive oil and butter until lightly brown. Add 1/2 cup of your favorite red wine, let reduce for 15 min.

When chicken and mushroom/onion mixture is lightly brown combine and cover. Put into oven at 325 for 30mins.

Take chicken out of oven pour over rice or potatoes and enjoy. I'm making baked potatoes tonight. Hope you love it!

Back From the Honeymoon!

Hello........I just got back last night! We had a great time, I can't say enough about the OBX as they call it. We took a million pictures it seems and didn't want to come back. What great weather we had! The first day and a half was a bit rainy but still the temp was better than at home. The rest of the stay was fabulous, sunny and 70 plus.

We hung out at the beach a lot and relaxed, just our speed. I did a lot of recouping there, couldn't have been a better place to do it.

I have a lot of catching up to do so I'll post a few pictures and be back tomorrow. I will return to work this week. Hope I'm up to it.

Thanks for listening, Dulce

What a beautiful day!

I thought I would venture out today! I've gone out a few times with my love at my side and at that only for an hour or so at a time. I tire easily still but am definitely on the mend! Today's temp will be about 69-70 and sunny!!!!! yeah! We don't get many of those days at this time of year.
My agenda today is to pick up our (mine and my honey's) wedding rings and have lunch with my daughter. I text her earlier but I don't think that she is awake just yet so I will wait and see whether I'm doing this alone or not. I need to buy a sweater or light jacket for the BIG day! and a pair of shoes? I should pick up a wind breaker or hoodie (as my girls call them) for the trip too.
I just looked up the weather at the CAPE and we will have 70's, some sunny days and some rain. I have to be ready for the whole nine yards. I think I have everything else!
I can't wait to take pictures when we are on our trip. I should get some pretty great shots. My camera is outstanding for the type of camera it is and for the money. I'm glad that I did my homework. I should post a comment regarding how pleased I am. That's how I finally decided to buy this camera in particular. I looked at many types of cameras and read the comments that buyers posted. One in particular stood out for me and that was from a man who bought the Sony Cybershot DSC-H3. I have to excuse my previous post when calling my camera the dscw 55 7.2 because that is the camera that I was going to buy originally. I in fact ended up buying a DSC-H3 8.1 and spending a bit more than I was going to but well worth it. But to get back to the post, it was the comments that this man wrote that clinched the deal for me. He was well informed and seemed semi-professional re: camera's, gave all the reasons he loved the camera and all that it would do for the money! SO,I should post my comment also.

Have to go, my daughter just text me and said that she will be available for lunch, Chipotle sounds fabulous! Mmmm......

Up above is another one of my paintings, I painted this one during February, can you tell?

Im Back!

I'm back and feeling much better! Wow that can really take a bite out of your day ,(week,month...whoa!) Still not a 100% but good enough to sit and blog.

I can't say enough about the medical technology of today! Zip,zip, zip and you're like new. And the drugs that are available, wow. I'm not much of a pill taker or any other drug for that matter, give me some wine and I'm' cured, but wow. I'm sure that all these and many more drugs do their job in one way or another but somehow I'm not the target audience. I was on morphine for about 24 hrs and then came the percocet!!!! EEEEk!

The morphine didn't really do the job for very long (Motrin 800 worked better) and then came the percocet which really just made me hallucinate, yes I said hallucinate. I was hearing really strange, loud sounds in my head as I slept. I kept feeling like I was interacting with the tv as I was sleeping, you know, they would ask a question and I would answer it! And it wasn't a quiz show!

Glad to be home though. I have about 3 weeks recoup time, one of which will be my honeymoon! 10 glorious days away with the love of my life, can't wait. Of course feeling better is the key here. I'm going to lay down for awhile so I'll leave you with a recipe, which I haven't done in a while.

Sony Cybershot Dscw55

My Sony Cybershot Dscw55 is the greatest! I cant believe the pictures! And sooo many options! it's just like the old 35's. I used to have a Nikon and loved it, kind of got away from taking pictures and left it in the closet. Then suddenly I needed a camera for my honeymoon and wow!, I did my research and bingo... the Sony Cybershot! I can't say enough about it. Feels just like the old 35's, really! I have as much ability to play with the settings with the Sony Cybershot Dscw55 as I did with my old Nikon and that was back in 80'.

I will leave you with a few more pic's........I just love this camera. I'm going out today to take some more because I will be in the hospital tomorrow and then re-couping the next few! talk to you soon, Dulce

Bad News, Good News?

Well here I am less than two weeks away from my wedding day and I've just been told I need a hysterectomy.......Now, as in Wednesday. I can't believe this whole mess. I really don't want to do this before the wedding. Mind you my wedding is not a big one, no guests really. It could be moved. The Honeymoon, im not so sure of (deposits and all). I just can't believe that this has to come right before the wedding. The one I've been waiting for all my life. I don't want to wait.

And as if I don't have enough on my plate I have a cold coming on too. I've tried or am in the process of using Zicam. Seems to be working. I'm only feeling minor fragments of the cold my fiance has been dealing with. My wonderful man has been coughing way toooo much. I think he needs to see the doc.

I hope everyone has been enjoying the pictures I've been posting. Im tring to get in the habit of bringing my camera with me more often. I bought a case so that I could still carry it in my purse and not scratch it, $8.- not bad. The weather from my patio seems to be the most interesting or is that the easiest to shoot. And of course my cat Tiger, he's always available! I'd like to take more outdoor everyday life shots. What's that they say about forming a habit? I think it takes a week to form one and only a few days to take one apart? hmm.

Oh and by the way, Im off from work for the next 3-4 weeks! For surgery and re-coup time. I should have plenty of time to write! Enjoy the pictures...

Beautiful weather

I love spring, especially for the storms we have! It's about 59' today, rainy with some beautiful clouds. I took a few pictures, I hope you enjoy them.

I've been off from work for the last two days enjoying my time. I don't miss the insanity of work, imagine that! It feels good to have two days in a row, I don't see much of that. Our busy season is coming up so I'm trying to savour these moments in time. Our busy season will bring me 10-14 hour days-6 days a week! Looking forward to vacation, actually my honeymoon.I'm getting married in a few weeks and I will take 2 weeks then.......I can't wait.

well got to go for now. Enjoy the pictures.

More Pictures

I recently purchased a beautiful camera! I spoke of my quest to find a new one in a previous post. I bought a sony cybershot dscw55 7.2. What an outstanding camera! I love the crispness of the pictures the ability to choose your own settings if you want and the size of the camera! I posted two pic's the last post that are from my new camera and Im posting a few shots of some flowers that my love got me for Easter.

enjoy, dulce
tell me what you think.....

Sunday, March 30, 2008

Time does fly! Easter came and went and I haven't been here? My how I've missed the writing world. So many things have happened since I last posted. I've told you about the "drunken lemur" before so you will be familiar when I tell you that he has been drunk almost continuously for weeks now. I used to dislike him quite a bit and now it seems that I'm almost sorry for him? Don't get me wrong, I love my wine as anyone will tell you, but hard alcohol 24/7 is insane. He can't function much longer at the rate he's driving himself.

You know, the thing with the lemur is that when he's sober he's such a dishonest man. He would put you on the chopping block at a moments notice, tell lies about you to get ahead and cheat you if it meant more money in his pocket! When he's drunk he would give you the shirt off his back and give you back all the money he's stolen from you in the past! Figure that one out?

I dont' think that he will have his job for more than 6 months tops at the rate he's going. I'm pretty sure that one eye has his EYE on him. It truthfully looks like one eye is setting him up with too much to watch over (job responsibility). If it weren't for the Lemurs wife (who works there too) he would have been gone by now. She has been doing some of the minor work that he can't accomplish.

Well enough of the rant for now........I'm hungry! I think I'll make pork chops tonight with white rice and mushroom gravy? And of course some vino for libation!

I have 4- 1 inch thick pork chops (bone in-more flavor)

2 cups of white rice (I like sticky rice-Japanese style)

2 cans of mushroom soup for gravy (tooooo easy)See recipe for mushroom gravy!

garlic salt (to taste)

Pepper (to taste)

Olive Oil

Mushroom Gravy: 2 cans of mushroom soup, 2 cans of water. Mix in a bowl and set aside.

Directions: Wash and pat dry with paper towel your pork chops.Coat the bottom of your fry pan with olive oil. Turn heat to medium. Season your pork chops with garlic salt and pepper (fresh ground pepper always). Place pork chops in pan and brown both sides (medium golden). Don't cook through, you just need the browning on both sides for flavor. When you have both sides brown pour in your mushroom soup mixture. You will need a pan big enough to hold all 4 chops and the soup/gravy mixture or use 2 pans and split. Turn heat to medium low (more towards the low side) and cover. Check about every 30-40 mins and turn, cover again. 1-1 1/2 hours. Make YOUR rice, which ever you like. Like I said I love japanese sticky rice so that's what I make.

When chops are nice and tender, serve over rice or mashed potatoes.

Don't forget the wine!

Thanks for listening...........Dulce

I have a nice pic or two for you!
That's Tiger the cat and of course the beginning of the worst storm we've had in years........Byeeeeeeeeeee

beautiful girls -sex symbols of the servitude

I was thinking about how many beautiful females I've run into in the few years that I've been in this industry. So many, very beautiful girls, inside and out, that I've crossed paths with. Some so alarmingly eye bedazzling that customers can't order the food or drink that they originally came in for. But of course, isn't that what the food industry is all about? Selling F& B with beauty (s__)? (food lingo-F&B-food and beverage)!

I would love to bring these beauties to you as I see them so....I'm on a quest....

I'm in the process of buying a camera....an updated digital. I have one now, an Olympus, but I don't get great pic's from it. So my goal is to find a decent priced camera that will suffice for the moment and get me through to the next big buy!. I'm looking at sony's because my daughter's both have one. One more expensive than the other. I'm also swinging in the direction of Nikon's? We shall see! Tell me what you think.

The next blog will and I mean WILL contain pic's!!! of the most beautiful waitress's that you have ever laid eyes on! And maybe not so? hmm, great contrast.

No recipe's this time...I'm on a quest.

Thanks for listening,

Dulce...........Love Ya

A Manager Quits

Yep,one of the asst. clubhouse mgr's quit her position and took an accounting job at the club. This does free up the payroll in our department. Maybe the asst. gen. mgr. will quit looking at me (the lowest man on the totem pole).

It's a rainy day and we're looking at all day for this fun. Grey skies and low 50's. Good day for cleaning and blogging.

My fiance came down with the flu on Valentine's Day. He rarely gets sick enough to stay home from work but this one did it. I've always heard that chicken soup (the homemade version) has healing qualities. I gave it a try and it came out great, delicious in fact. I surprised myself.

Here's the recipe

1 Boneless chicken breast

1 Sweet onion

4 Stalks of celery

2 Medium bay leaves

2 Chicken boullion cubes

Garlic Salt & Pepper to taste

In a 5 quart pot fill 3/4 with water. Drop in 2 chicken boullion cubes on medium heat. Wash and pat dry chicken breast. Season chicken with garlic salt and pepper on both sides. Brown lightly in olive oil on both sides. Cut onion in quarters and celery in 1/2 inch chunks. Saute both in olive oil until onions are just turning clear. Put onions and celery in pot of water that is now at a mild boil. Add Chicken breast as is, dont' cut it up you can do that later. Turn heat down between medium and low. Let simmer for 1 1/2 hours. Keep and eye on it for water level, you want to have a decent amount of broth left when the soup is done. Taste it about half way through for re-seasoning of salt and or pepper. MMMmm. Hope you like it, we did.

I poured my chicken soup over some mashed potatoes. Certainly hit the spot. My love drank only the broth, he wasn't feeling so hot. But I have to say he did go to work the next day and the day after he said he was feeling great. There's something to that chicken soup myth after all hmm?

Thanks for listening,

He's trying to fire me?

Haven't been to work in 3 days, my schedule, which is joke, nice to have the time off. I think our exec chef is quitting....hmm. I wonder why?He has to put up with one EYe also. You see one EYe is a, as I said previously, benevolant dictator! Imagine why someone would quit? I like chef, he's fun and truthful. I hope he has something better lined up, im sure he does.

I had a great day yesterday. I cleaned my house, I know it doesn't seem like fun, but when you are done it feels so good! Then my fiance came home, yes we live together, and we had the greatest time. We went out for lunch and then we came home and had dessert....mmmmm What an awsomely handsome man I have. Wow. We are to be married in April. I love him...mmmm

Ok, back to work. I think the asst. general mgr. is trying to fire me. You see, he has a payroll problem. He hired me thinking that one of the asst clubhouse mgr's were going to quit. He also had a backup plan, he was going to fire his wife (one of the asst. clubhouse mgr's) in September and didn't. Problem being, he sucks in his roll and the board would like to get rid of him, so he doesn't want to rid his wife of her job. He makes the money or she does? Can't do yourself out of income in both directions. Now we have the problem of where do we cut the payroll? Hmmmm, could we possibly harass one of the managers? You know, it hasn't worked so far. But he's trying. My job sucks some days and others well they just pass for something to do. So far my fiance has gotten me through the hard times, like I said he's great and very sneaky.

Gotta go, he's due home................I love him so much.

Im doing steaks tonight. Nothing fancy.

2 Black Angus Beef Loin Strip Steaks
1/2 tsp. Garlic Salt
4 twists of the pepper grinder

Grill on each side 8 minutes for medium well (DONT TURN)

Once done....let rest for 5-10 to redistribute the juices!

For side dishes use your imagination.... tonight im making brocolli and roasted yukon gold potatoes

Im steaming the brocolli with a little butter and salt & pepper. The Yukon potatoes will be cut in quarters and drizzled with olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic and parsley. I will roast the potatoes for 30 min's and turn them half way through.

Im thinking red wine tonight.......of course im always thinking red wine..(smile)

I Saw ONe EYe

Last night I took care of the Wine Tail Party, one eye was there of course. I thought I might have to deal with him at some point during the event but not so soon. I was busy decorating the tables for the wine party when along comes "the lemer" or rather "the drunken lemer". He is my immediate boss, I don't like him either. One eye is the drunken lemer's immediate boss. The drunken lemer is almost always drunk and says a lot of stupid things. So anyway, the drunken lemer comes into the room and starts with his input, which never makes sense. He proceeds to open bottles of wine and put the corks all over the place. Then one eye comes into the room and yells across the room at me "We don't need corks all over the tables!". I walk over to him as he's yelling and tell him that I didn't do it. He always has this ridiculous, condiscending way of talking to people, and cuts me off mid sentence. I really don't like him.

What does he get out of talking to people like he does? He purposely asks me questions and when I try to give him answers he cuts me off everytime. He asked me one time If I had everything ready for an event that evening and as I tried to make conversation with him he says "YES OR NO, that's all I need from you!" I really don't like him. For the first 6 months that I worked there he couldn't remember my name, he kept calling me someone else's name. This is how insignificant he thinks everyone is. As he walks down the hall and encounters someone he will say "hey, there she/he is because he can't remember their name either.

I've stated to others that he's always rude to me and that I just can't understand why. Their reply has been, no, he's that rude to everyone. Gee, makes me feel a whole lot better to know that.

The only consolation last night was that we were able to try several new wines, with one eye's permission of course. He once called himself the benevolent dictator at one of our meetings. Definition: Benevolent, good will-kindness. I've not witnessed him spreading any good will or kindness for that matter. Ok, I've spent enough time unloading the benevolant dic for one day.

Ive got another recipe for you!

KAHLUA CAKE

1 pkg yellow cake mix

1 pkg chocolate instant pudding mix

1/4 c. vodka

1/2 c. kahlua

1 c. vegetable oil

3/4 c. water

4 eggs

Mix at high speed for 4 minutes.
Pour into greased and floured bundt pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes.

Turn out of pan and cool.

Glaze

1/4 c. powdered sugar.
Kahlua sufficient to smooth and thin consistency.
Drizzle over top of cake.

Mmmmm...enjoy

My boss- One Eye

I just looked at the date of my last blog........it's been awhile. I've been here several times with nothing to say or so I thought. I love a variety of things that I could talk about but truthfully, I just want to talk about daily life. What it takes to get through my day.

Each day is a different struggle, some good, some not so good, some great, some really terrific. What we would say if we could. I feel very closed off from the ability to speak, I didn't use to be this way. I use to speak up, but then I started corporate work. I didn't know about the consequences of speech in a corporate setting. I wish I could just say what I wanted to in regards to my job. I guess I could, no one there could hear me, really. They wouldn't know who I was, right? If I speak carefully, I could say anything and they wouldn't know would they.

I dont' like my boss, in fact I can't stand him or his arrogance. He thinks he's good looking, you can tell by the way he puffs his chest out.I'm really bothered by a bump he has on his forehead, I stare at it sometimes when we are at meetings. I don't sit near him during meetings so then maybe he won't pick on me. He also has one eye tooth that is longer than the other, I think he should shave it down to match the other. It seems to protrude from his lips when he smiles, like a huge icicle hanging from a mountain in Utah. I have to go to work in a few minutes. I know I will have to deal with one eye at some point tonight. We have a wine tasting tonight and one eye thinks he knows wine, he doesn't. He's the proverbial wine snob. When I see him tonight I will try not to stare at his bump, I will try.

I think I feel better. I will post more on him tomorrow.

Work, Food, Work, Food....

Im working tooooo hard! I haven't had time to think about food. Mostly I'm thinking about the servers that I have to deal with, the management that I have to deal with and the constant struggle. What fun. Im making dinner tonight as I try to do a least twice a week.

Baked Chicken with a Red Wine reduction

4-6 Leg-thigh combinations (2 whole boneless breasts for lower cal version)

8-12 fresh mushrooms

1 can/box chicken stock

1 cup red wine (as they say, make sure it's something that you would drink)

1 tsp. salt

1 tsp. fresh ground pepper ( I dont' measure I just grind on top of the chicken)

1 Clove fresh garlic minced ( or 1 tsp garlic powder)

2-3 tbls. Olive Oil

Wash chicken and pat dry. Season with garlic (rub the fresh garlic on the chicken), salt, and pepper. Pour olive oil in frying pan and lightly brown on each side. Take chicken out of pan and pour small amount of chicken stock in. Deglaze pan by gently stirring. Cut mushrooms into slices and add to deglazed pan. Let mushrooms heat and slightly reduce the chicken stock. Add wine and chicken and cover bake for 25 mins. at 400 degrees. After 25 mins. take out of oven, take lid off and reduce liquid to half on top of stove.

You can pour this mixture over rice, mashed potatoes or just savor it next to a green veg of your choice! Enjoy

More Recipes for weight loss because we had our Holiday Party!

good morning! sitting here with my chai tea which I absolutely adore. Oh, I forgot to write down the oven temp for the Salmon which should be 375'. There now that's off my mind. I realized that I hadn't included that shortly after I left my blog the other day but of course I had no time to get back here.

I work quite a bit, in the food and beverage industry, so Im not able to get here as often as I like. I aspire to be here at least once a day! I promise.

Last night we had our "Holiday Party" after the fact? We are tooooo busy to do any celebrating before Jan. with all the parties we are hosting for the members. It was hilarious, went better than I thought it would. We had the usual employee event food-chicken fingers (yuck), onion rings (soggy), quesadillas (no filling whatsoever, tasteless and soggy), chili made by the Gen. Mgr himself (too tomatoey, not enough spice) pizza (fair), cheese plate, veg plate and leftover ice cream from the Ohio State/LSU game party last week! Yep, suffice to say that I and my fiance and another couple went out to dinner after Ha!

We kareokeeed, that was fun for awhile. We talked about everyone else that was there! That was fun too! Found out a few new secrets and drank for free. What a night. I have the day off today and am feeling guilty about the amount of food and drink I consumed. Calories in, weight on! So here goes another recipe:

KICK YOUR METABOLISM INTO GEAR!

Your morning meal is very important, it says everything about your metabolism for the day.
Try to stay with a protein and a low carb count.

For Breakfast try this:

Your drink of choice, tea (iced or hot), coffee, water or a diet drink. No calories here.

  • Two pieces of toast with peanut butter (no butter or jelly just yet, we could go there later in the day). Peanut butter is about 35 cal. per tsp. You could forget the p'nut butter and use butter instead if you like- also 35 cal. per pat. But you will definately need the eggs at that point.
Bread slices are about 85 cal. each. You could try the light varieties and have a few more slices if you choose (40-50 cal. each slice). Im shooting for a 350 cal b'fast.

  • 2 eggs-anyway you like them! 70 cal. each. Yes, you can use the whole egg. If you want to cut the calorie count you can use just the egg whites. 63 Calories for the yolk and 16 for the white. Use a pan spray to cook them in for the cal. count-or use a pat of butter (35 cal) or a tsp of olive oil (35 cal.)

The main idea is to keep the calorie count to a minimum and eat a protein first thing in the morning!

Play around with the numbers and stay below 400 calories. Then you can use the rest of your calories for lunch and dinner. 1200-1500 calories for an active female and 1500-1800 for an active male. Take away 300 calories in each instance for inactivity.

If you are in a hurry I would eat the peanut butter toasts and coffee and run! Note your heart rate! Your metabolism is in gear! Your day is set....

Thanks for listening, Dulce Dreamz

Recipes for weight loss

I used to be 50 lbs. overweight. I decide one year that I didn't care how much I weighed and ate everything that wasn't nailed down. I then noted that I wasn't getting dates anymore and tried to lose some of my fat. That wasn't as easy as all that to do. I tried the usual skipping meals, that didnt work. I tried the carb counting, that didn't work either. I tried the all protien, the cabbage soup regimen, the all fruit, the all veg until I was exhausted. I then started putting my own eating style back into play. My train of thought was this. All things in moderation. A balance. Something I had always tried to live by in every other area of my life. I just didn't think of it when I was eating. I lost my 50 lbs and I feel and look great!

Here's one that I always use when I need to fit into that party dress!

For two days before you're going to that oh so important party try this one....

Beautifully Broiled Salmon

1 4-6 oz Salmon Filet
1 c. brocolli
1 c. of pineapple
Beverage of choice should be coffee, tea or a diet soda.

You can prepare your salmon broiled, steamed, poached or baked.

I usually season my salmon with garlic salt and pepper. A little olive oil in the pan and brown lightly on both sides. Then into the oven to bake for 10 min.s- covered. Steam your cup of brocolli with a little pepper and salt. Cut your pineapple into bite sized pieces!

This recipe will yield about 5lbs of water weight after two days. You should of course be moderate with your other meal choices too. Remember Calories in, weight on

So take out that party dress and prepare for a wonderful evening of looking beautiful! And please remember.......COUNT THOSE CALORIES!

Note: responsibility for you looking great in that classic black dress is all yours!
